Is SnoreMender Still Sold?
Only in Germany, according to the brand’s UK site, which sends UK buyers to German eBay listings (two per order maximum). The current lineup is the SnoreMender 5, 5 Premium Edition, 3 “easy” and Lady. The PS model that older reviews compare with ZQuiet is no longer listed, and snoremender.com no longer serves a store. Design: How Each One Works
Both hold the lower jaw a little forward so the airway is less likely to narrow when your throat muscles relax during sleep (how snoring mouthpieces work).
ZQuiet
ZQuiet is a soft, one-piece device with a flexible “living hinge” at the front, so it moves with your jaw. There’s no molding. You get two sizes: Size 1 advances the jaw about 2 mm and Size 2 about 6 mm. The maker says it’s free of BPA, latex and silicone.
SnoreMender
SnoreMender is also one piece, made of thin flexible plastic that grips the inside of the lower teeth and the outside of the upper teeth. A springy section pulls the jaw forward. The brand calls its shape “pressure shift” technology: it’s designed to move pressure away from the lower front teeth and tooth tips. The SnoreMender 5 adds a connector with 8 advancement settings; the Premium Edition has a stronger spring and 6 settings.
Adjustment: Two Sizes vs Eight Settings
This is the biggest functional difference. ZQuiet’s two sizes leave a big jump between them: if Size 1 isn’t enough and Size 2 is too much, there’s nothing in between. That is the most common reason people move on from ZQuiet. The SnoreMender 5’s connector gives smaller steps.

- You tried ZQuiet and Size 1 was too weak but Size 2 too strong: you need finer steps. In the US that means an adjustable device like SnoreRx ($59.99) or SnoreRx Plus ($99.99) rather than importing a SnoreMender.

Cleaning and Lifespan
Neither has screws or joints to trap debris. ZQuiet should air-dry and be stored flat in its case, which the maker says helps the hinge keep its strength. SnoreMender’s brand site recommends a quick rinse in lukewarm water with a little soap, and its distributor says to replace the device every 12–15 months. Avoid hot water, bleach and alcohol-based mouthwash with either; our cleaning guide explains why.
Our Hands-On Test: ZQuiet
We bought ZQuiet and tested it ourselves. The box held a case with two mouthpieces in different sizes, plus three booklets: instructions for use and care, sleep tips, and a booklet for couples. There is nothing to boil; the soft, flexible trays are ready to wear. Fully closed, the front opening is about 3 mm, though the hinge usually keeps the mouth open a little wider. Over a few nights, snoring-app recordings showed quieter snoring while wearing it. It was easy to use, but our tester woke every morning with soreness between the bottom front teeth and lip, with both sizes. We put that down to the trays not being molded to the teeth.

What our testing adds to this comparison: ZQuiet’s no-boil convenience was real in our test, and it did quiet our tester’s snoring. The catch was morning soreness at the bottom front teeth with both sizes, so if you have sensitive front teeth, a molded device may suit you better than either of these one-shape designs. Our SnoreMender notes rely on the brand’s published specs.
One tester’s nights are a real-world example, not a clinical trial. Snoring varies from person to person and night to night, and a snoring app or fingertip oxygen recording is not a sleep test.
Who Should Skip Both
Snoring can be a sign of obstructive sleep apnea. If you snore loudly and also stop breathing, gasp at night or are very sleepy in the day, see a doctor and get a sleep test before using any mouthpiece. Neither is a treatment for sleep apnea.
